“I have absolutely no idea where to go on my date. I don’t want my girlfriend to think I’m boring. Any ideas?” -EHG

A date is your chance to display your uniqueness and creativity, your interests and fascinations. So, even though some people like to play it safe on the first date and eat at a nice restaurant, your second date should be something a little more interesting. Here are a handful of ideas, but be creative and think of some of your own!

1. Something Nice: If you do something charitable with your date, not only will you have fun, but you can help other people as well. Volunteer at a soup kitchen or read with children, help build a succah for someone who can’t or pack up food for poor families. There is so much good to be done, so why not hit two birds with one stone?

2. Something Competitive: It can be difficult to date when you are sitting at a restaurant table and both parties are focused directly on the dating. Instead, it can be fun to play an engaging game and date indirectly. Boardgames are great fun, whether you are playing on the same team and you have to use teamwork, or you are having a “vicious” competition. Other types of games that can be fun are bowling, trivia challenges, or even arcade games.

3. Something Active: Doing active things releases endorphins, which make you and your date feel good! So why don’t you go for a run in the park, or a hike in the forest? Biking along the beach and mountain biking can also be lots of fun!

4. Something Different: Sure, going out for a fancy dinner is a cliche, but how about waking up at six o’clock for a fancy breakfast (But make sure your date doesn’t get crabby in the morning)! Or, how about putting the names of restaurants you have never been to in a hat and asking your date to choose one at random? Anything can be interesting with a twist!

5. Something New: Maybe the reason all your date ideas seem boring is because you’ve done all of them at one time or another. Why not take a class to learn a new skill with your date? The crazier the better: beekeeping, crocheting, pizza-making, stand up comedy, or even poetry writing! This doesn’t have to be your new lifelong pursuit: in fact, if the class is really bad, you’ll at least have something to laugh about with your date!

Send your dating questions to moses.d@Sawyouatsinai.com and maybe your question will be answered next week!
